App does not open or crashes

Make sure you are running the latest version of Momently and the latest supported iOS version. Fully close the app and relaunch. Restart your device if the issue persists. Contact support with your device model and iOS version if the problem continues.

Camera or video not working

Momently requires camera permission to capture photos and short videos. Go to Settings > Momently on your device and ensure Camera is enabled. Video recording also requires Microphone permission for audio capture. The camera is not available on the iOS Simulator.

Voice notes not recording

Voice note recording requires Microphone permission. Go to your device Settings > Momently and confirm the microphone toggle is enabled. If recording still doesn't start, try closing and reopening the app. Voice notes are saved as .m4a files on your device.

Daily reminder not arriving

Reminders rely on notification permissions. Verify that notifications are enabled for Momently in your device Settings. Check that Focus modes, Do Not Disturb, or notification summaries are not filtering or delaying alerts. Reminders are scheduled for 8:00 PM by default.

Face ID / Touch ID not working

Biometric lock requires that your device has Face ID or Touch ID configured in Settings > Face ID & Passcode. If biometric authentication fails repeatedly, you can disable the lock from Momently Settings > Privacy and re-enable it.

Where is my data stored?

All your data - moments, mood entries, thoughts, voice notes, photos, and videos - is stored exclusively on your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server or cloud. If you delete the app, all data is permanently lost. Use the Export feature in Settings to back up your data as a JSON file.

How to export my data

Go to Profile > Settings > Your Data > Export all data. This creates a JSON file containing all your moments, mood entries, and thoughts (excluding media files). You can share this file via AirDrop, email, or save it to Files for safekeeping.

How to delete all data

Go to Profile > Settings > Your Data > Delete all data. This permanently removes all moments (including photos and videos), mood entries, thoughts (including voice notes), and resets the app. This action cannot be undone.

Photos or videos look stretched

Momently displays photos and videos using their original aspect ratio. If a photo appears cropped in the card view, tap it to see the full image in detail view. Very wide or very tall images may be center-cropped in the feed for consistent card sizing.
